Complete Streets Design & Planning

Complete Streets are streets for everyone — no matter their mode of transportation. This includes people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, regardless of whether they are traveling as pedestrians, bicyclists, drivers, or public transportation riders, especially providing support for neighbors who have experienced systemic underinvestment or whose needs have not been met through a traditional transportation approach.

Complete Streets make it easy to cross the street, walk to shops, jobs, and schools, bicycle to work, and move actively with assistive devices. They allow buses to run on time and make it safe for people to walk or move actively to and from train stations.

Creating Complete Streets means that transportation agencies and their staff must change their approach to community roads. Design of these Complete Streets is ever evolving, and Bike Walk Savannah is here to help!

Our staff has extensive experience, both as users of these facilities and consultants on how to design them. We engage with a network of industry and community leaders from across the country, benefiting from the lessons we share together. Bike Walk Savannah brings best practice knowledge to the greater Savannah area, pairing it with local understanding and local relationships.

But it’s not just about what you’re designing — it’s about the policies that get you there. Bike Walk Savannah staff is at the forefront of Complete Streets policy development, ordinance language, and street design guidelines and standards, and can assist with securing funding for these complex transportation challenges.
