Savannah Play Streets returns on May 19 with a Bicycle Block Party

The last Savannah Play Streets event was so epic, it broke a world record for the most people simultaneously playing hopscotch! This time, the focus is on bicycles as Play Streets moves to Savannah Gardens. Play Streets happens on Sunday, May 19 from 2-5 p.m.

Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store:

  • Tricycle Time Trials
  • “Spoked!” Bicycle-themed Art Exhibitbicycleblockparty
  • Live Music
  • Surprise Dance Performance
  • Bicycle-powered Light Bulb Challenge
  • Forsyth Farmers Market Vendors
  • Art Activities
  • Healthy Cooking Demonstrations
  • Bicycle Valet
  • Bicycle Games for Kids
  • Bicycle Evaluations and Adjustments
  • Open House at Selected Savannah Gardens Homes
  • Health Screenings
  • Sports and Activities

What’s the best way to get to a Bicycle Block Party? By bike, of course. A group ride will leave the south end of Forsyth Park promptly at 1:30 p.m., so plan to arrive there by 1:20 p.m. at the latest. Because of the ride distance and route, it is not recommended for young children or inexperienced cyclists.

Of course, the best way to get in on the fun is to volunteer, and we have a number of opportunities available.

More information is available on the City of Savannah website and from our friends at Well FED.
