Later today (July 22) Savannah City Council will be meeting to discuss the final SPLOST project list. Unfortunately, Tide To Town is no longer on that list. We ask that you contact your alderman today and ask them to support restoring SPLOST funding for Tide To Town. This is an urgent call to action — the meeting is at 5:30 p.m.

We are offering free valet parking for bikes at Andrew Bird’s performance on Tuesday, March 29 at Lucas Theatre. Ride your bike to the show and we’ll look after it while you enjoy the music. Our bike valet will be open beginning at 7 p.m.
The violinist, singer and composer began his career as a member of the Squirrel Nut Zippers before forming Bowl of Fire, and has been recording and touring as a solo artist since 2003. His distinctive voice, wide ranging influences and instrumental versatility contribute to an engaging compositional style that often incorporates sounds and layers rarely heard in pop music, including virtuosic whistling and glockenspiel.
We love it when we discover our favorite musicians are also avid cyclists. That’s the case with Bird. “I feel a certain amount of pride in not using a motorized vehicle to get from point A to point B,” he told Bicycling magazine. “Sometimes I’ll invent point A and point B to justify riding.”

Ride your bike to the Food Day Festival on Oct. 24 and use our free bicycle valet
We are excited to offer free valet parking for bicycles again this year at the Savannah Food Day Festival on Saturday, Oct. 24 in Daffin Park. Take in all the Food Day fun including live music, exhibitors and, of course, food! We’ll watch your bike while you enjoy the festivities.
We are seeking volunteers to staff the bike valet. The first two people to volunteer will receive passes that allow access to the exclusive VIP tent. Sign up to volunteer.
Practical people pedal to Picnic in the Park
The annual Picnic in the Park concert will draw thousands of people to Forsyth Park on Sunday, Oct. 4 to hear the Savannah Philharmonic and other musical performers. Many people will drive, creating traffic headaches and demand for parking that far outstrips supply. But you know a better way to go, right? Right!
You’ll ride your bike to Picnic in the Park and leave your wheels at our bicycle valet parking service. It’s totally free — small donations are appreciated, but definitely not required — and easy. You won’t have to walk your bike through the crowd or find a place to lock it. You can rest easy and enjoy the show knowing your bike is safe and secure.
If you’re interested in volunteering, we’d love to have you. We’ll have a pretty good view of the stage from our location near the Drayton Street sidewalk.
We look forward to seeing you and your bike on Sunday. Don’t forget to bring your lights for the ride home!
Ride your bike the Preservation Festival Block Block Party this Saturday
Our friends at the Historic Savannah Foundation are throwing a Lincoln Street Initiative Block Party this Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Lincoln and 32nd streets, just south of Savannah Bicycle Campaign HQ. What’s this all about?
“In 2004, HSF announced the Lincoln Street Initiative in the Thomas Square Streetcar Historic District. By combining rehabilitation of historic structures with construction of new buildings for low to moderate income families, the Foundation sought to revitalize the neighborhood, provide new housing and avoid displacement of existing residents.”
What’s happening at the Block Party?
“Home sites will be open for visitation, relevant historical storytelling will be staged, interactive demonstrations for trade-related jobs will be integrated, students from our Savannah Chatham County Public School partners will have Hands on History Program related booths, food and beverage will be offered from neighborhood restaurants and live music will fill the air.
We’ll offer free valet parking for bicycles at the corner of Lincoln and 32nd streets. Tickets and more information are available on the HSF website. Interested in volunteering at the bike valet? Sign up for a shift here.
