BREAKING NEWS: This event is temporarily postponed and will not be held at the Savannah Play Streets Bicycle Block Party on May 19. A new date and location will be announced shortly. You may still use the registration form on this page to sign up for the competition.
Who is the fastest commuter in all the land? Or at least in Savannah?
We’ll find out when Pageant Prologue II goes down during the Savannah Play Streets Bicycle Block Party on Sunday, May 19. It’s the qualifying event for the annual Dump the Pump Challenge, presented with Chatham Area Transit, which pits a cyclist, transit rider and driver against each other to determine the champion of commuter modes. This year’s Dump the Pump Challenge will be held on June 20. Pageant Prologue II is organized by our SpokeModels group.
Last year Kristin Mulzer powered the Savannah Bicycle Campaign to its fourth straight victory (Frank McIntosh took home the gold in the previous three years). To help choose this year’s competitor, we are bringing back the Bike Pageant Prologue to test the city cycling skills of potential competitors, along with their poise and appearance both before and after the ride, since after all, this is an event tailor-made for the press!
So, bring your bike and your “A” game, your best cycle-ready workday attire, your grace, and your charisma. Equally weighted components of the competition will be (1) prologue course time, (2) post-ride appearance, and (3) interview. We welcome you to attend as a competitor or as a volunteer! Top competitors will walk away with fantastic prizes, the top competitor with the honor to represent Savannah’s bicyclists in the June 21 Dump the Pump Challenge!
Don’t miss it! Register at this link to compete! To volunteer, please send an email to volunteers@bicyclecampaign.org.
