DESCRIPTION:We have been waiting patiently for two years for your help!  Friends of Massie hosted a Community Conversation two years ago to announce the Vision Zero initiative- to eliminate traffic deaths by 2027.  Learn what progress has been made and how the program would affect your streets or your neighborhood.  Vision Zero is an internationally recognized road safety pledge to reduce traffic-related deaths.  The increase in pedestrian deaths in 2024 reminds us that the best time to get started is now.  The program promises to use federal grants and local funds for new street signs\, markings\, and improved streetscapes. Add your voice to solving the traffic deaths problems and learn more about the City’s plan to eliminate traffic deaths by 2027. \n  \nSpeakers: City Manager\, Jay Melder\, with District 4 Alderman\, Nick Palumbo and Caila Brown. DESCRIPTION:Chatham County will be hosting a public meeting for the Safe Streets for All Study on Thursday\, Nov. 21 from 4-6 p.m. at the Lake Mayer Park Community Room\, 1850 E. Montgomery Cross Rd. \nThe Safe Streets for All Study will identify risk factors and locations of serious traffic crashes\, identify underserved communities\, assess and make recommendations for improving transportation policies. This off-road\, multipurpose trail is planned to run approximately 2.1 miles from the cul de sac on Green Island Road to Diamond Causeway with connection to the existing paths on the Northside of Diamond Causeway. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the project and share input with the planning team. \n \nThe meeting will take place from 4-7 p.m. at Skidaway Island Baptist Church\, 2 Westridge Rd\, Savannah\, GA 31411. \n \nThe Green Island Road Path is part of the county’s efforts to enhance safe\, accessible pathways for recreation and transportation. SUMMARY:Savannah Cranksgiving Ride
DESCRIPTION:Our 13th annual Savannah Cranksgiving Ride is Sunday\, Nov. 9 starting at 11 a.m. Cranksgiving is half bike ride\, half food drive and a 100 percent fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon helping others.\nBike Walk Savannah (and you!) will be helping feed hungry people at Emmaus House and supporting Over the Moon Diaper Bank.\nFounded in 1982 by a group of downtown churches\, Emmaus House provides food and day services to the homeless and needy of Savannah. Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday\, fifty weeks each year.\nOver the Moon Diaper Bank partners with numerous social service agencies throughout the Lowcountry to distribute disposable diapers\, wipes\, period\, and incontinence items to the families they serve\, and participate in a wide variety of community give-away events each month.
